The Dance Theatre tuition fees are amongst the lowest in the city. Parents may obtain tuition assistance by participating in the Parent’s Association’s various fund raising activities. Students may earn a scholarship towards their tuition by participating in our self-directed learning program Intra-School Challenge.

2016-17 TUITION FEES 

Pre-school Dance: Full Season (September – June)

* Combination class of tap, ballet, jazz, with intro to hip hop, tumbling, rhythmic gymnastics at age appropriate levels, acting skills and rhythm games.

* 45 minute class per week

* Students are expected to participate in the Christmas Show, Year End Musical, and a minimum of one dance festival (Rising Stars!)

* Fee – $450.00 for the year payable by a non-refundable pre-payment of $100.00 and monthly installments of $50.00 due on the first of the month September – March. The pre-payment will be applied to your April, May and June installments providing the season is completed. A costume fee of $70.00 is due and payable to the Parent’s Association by October 1st. After that date the fee will be $105.00.

Pre-school Dance: Sessional programs (September 9 – November 25, January 8 – March 25, April 1 – June 16)

* Combination class of jazz, ballet, creative movement and rhythm games.

* 45 minute class per week for 12 weeks

* There are no performance or costume obligations

* Fee per session is $150.00 non-refundable after start date.

Mom and Me – ½ hour class per week

* Fee per session is $65.00 for 10 weeks – non-refundable after start date.

Pre-school Tumbling: Sessional programs (September 10 – November 26, January 9 – March 26, April 2 – June 17)

* Introduction to basic tumbling skills and exploration of body movement

* 45 minute class per week for 12 weeks

* No performance or costume commitments.

* Fee per session is $150 non-refundable after start date.

Pre-school Rhythmic Gymnastics: Sessional programs (September 10 – November 26, January 9 – March 26, April 2 – June 17)

* Introduction to use of rhythmic equipment such as ribbons, balls, hoops, with basic tumbling and movement skills

* 45 minute class per week for 12 weeks

* No performance or costume commitments

* Fee per session is $150 non-refundable after start date

Full-season students wishing to pay for the year in advance and receive a 6% discount must meet the following deadlines. There will be no exceptions.

  • New students: pre-payment paid upon registration and balance paid in full by September 20th.
  • Returning students: deposit paid by June 24th, and balance paid by August 25th.

All fees (except costume fees) are payable to E.C.D.T. by e-transfer to dancetheatre@shaw.ca, cash, cheque, debit or credit card.

Costume fees are payable to E.C.D.T.P.A. by e-transfer to ecdtpa@gmail.com, cash or cheque only

Students 6 yrs. and older by March 1, 2017

* This is a full year program running from September 10, 2016 to June 25, 2017.

* Classes offered:

  • Dance Arts– Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Stretch
  • Theatre Arts – Drama, Musical Theatre (Singing)
  • Acrobatic Arts – Tumbling, Acro

* Mandatory Performance obligations include Christmas show, Year End Musical, and participation in one or two dance festivals. Also, for competitive groups, the Parent’s Association Silent Auction.

* Optional performance obligations include Annual Parent’s Association Silent Auction, for non-competitive groups, numerous performances for various community events and senior shows. As well, possible additional competitions or festivals that may or may not be out of town.

* All classes are one hour per week except Intermediate and Senior Tap, Ballet and Jazz which are two hours per week. Tumbling students may opt to do two hours or more per week if the schedule allows. Students enrolled in stretch may attend all stretch classes. Stretch class is mandatory for anyone registered in an Intermediate or Senior class.

* Fees for the classes are as follows:

  • One Hour Classes – $550.00 per year/ per class payable by a non-refundable pre-payment fee of $110.00 per class and monthly installments of $55.00 per month per class September 1 to April 1. The pre-payment fee are applied to your May and June installments only.
  • Two Hour Classes – $700.00 per year per class payable by a non-refundable pre-payment fee of $140.00 upon registration and monthly installments of $70.00 per month September 1 – April 1. The pre-payment will be applied to your May and June Installments only.
  • Half hour classes (Pre-Point and Pointe) – $200.00 per year per class payable by a non-refundable pre-payment of $40.00 and monthly installments of $20.00 per month September 1 – April 1. The pre-payment will be applied to your May and June installments only.

* Multi class discount

  • students taking the full complement of Dance Arts classes (Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Hip Hop) will receive a 10% discount on their fees for any Theatre Arts or Acrobatic Arts classes
  • Students registered in a minimum of three dance classes will receive the stretch class at no charge

* Year in Advance discount – For students wishing to pay for the year in advance and receive a 6% discount for their non-discounted classes, the following deadlines must be met. There will be no exceptions:

  • New students: pre-payment paid upon registration and the balance paid by September 20th
  • Returning students: pre-payment paid by June 25th and balance paid by August 25th

* All fees paid by monthly installment are due on or before the First (1st) of each month commencing September 1, 2016. This fee is due and payable even if you register after September 1st. Fees are payable by : e-transfer to dancetheatre@shaw.ca, or by cash, post-dated cheques, credit, or debit.

* A costume fee of $70.00 per class is due and payable to the Parent’s Association by October 1st. After that date the fee will increase to $105.00 per class. Drama, Musical Theatre, and Stretch classes are exempt from this fee. Returning tumbling/acro students will be informed if they need to purchase a new costume. Fees may be paid by cash, cheque, or e-transfer to ecdtpa@gmail.com

For committed students who wish to maximize their training.

Junior Program:

* Depending on age the students will take the following 1 hour classes:

Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Drama, Musical Theatre, Tumbling, Acro (if meets requirements) and Stretch

* Fee for the year is $2300.00 payable by a non-refundable pre-payment of $460.00 and monthly installments of $230.00 per month September 1 – April 1. The deposit will be applied to your May and June installments

Intermediate/ Senior Program:

* Students will take the following 1 hour classes:

Modern, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Tumbling, Drama, Musical Theatre, Acro (if meets requirements), Stretch

And the following 2 hour classes:

Tap, Ballet, Jazz

Students who are eligible will also take pre-pointe or pointe.

* Fee for the year is $2600.00 payable by a non-refundable pre-payment of $520.00 and monthly installments of $260.00 per month September 1 – April 1. The pre-payment will be applied to your May and June installments.

For both programs:

* There is no pay in advance discount for this program as fees are already discounted 50 %.

* Mandatory attendance is required for all studio workshops, any in-city dance conventions, all regularly scheduled performances, 2 – 4 competitions/festivals including out of city events, and attend all studio and Parent Association functions.

* A costume fee of $70.00 per class is due and payable to the Parent’s Association by October 1st. After that date the fee will increase to $105.00 per class. Costume fees are not required for Drama, Musical Theatre, Stretch, Pointe and Pre-Pointe classes. Returning tumbling/acro students will be informed if they need to purchase a new costume. Fees may be paid by cash, cheque, or e-transfer to ecdtpa@gmail.com

Full year program: (September until May)
* Fees are $80.00 per person.
* One hour weekly classes will be offered in tap, ballet, jazz, and hip hop. Other classes will be started if there is enough interest. * Groups pulled out by a teacher/choreographer will not be subject to these fees.
* Full year classes will participate in the Christmas show, 2 festivals and the year- end musical if they wish.
* Fee for the full year is $430.00 payable by an $86.00 pre-payment and monthly installments of $43.00 per month September 1 – March 1. The pre-payment will be applied to your April and May installments provided you complete the year.
* A costume fee will be charged based on the actual cost of the costume including shipping, duty etc or $75.00 if paid in full to the Parent’s Association by October 1 and you are actively supporting the Parent Association fundraisers.

Sessional classes: Weeks of September 8 – November 24 and January 5 – March 23
* Sessional classes will run as one hour classes once a week for 12 weeks.
* Fees for the sessional classes are $140.00 per session. Fees must be paid in full prior to registration and are non-refundable once classes start.
* There are no costume or performing commitments with these classes.
* Classes will run only if a minimum of four registrations are received.

Student Loyalty Discount:

As a thank you to returning Dance Theatre family members, an additional discount will be offered to returning students who are taking a minimum of two general classes per week. The discount will be offered as follows:

* Students entering their 3rd to 5th year will receive a 3% discount on their class fees

* Students entering their 6th or more year will receive a 4% discount on their class fees

* The discount will also apply to students registered in the Dance Theatre Full program.

Proposed Competition/Festivals for 2017:

* Dance Power (Lethbridge), View Dance Challenge (Calgary), Terpsichore Dance (Edmonton)

* All students will participate in Rising Stars! Invitational Performing Arts Festival (Edmonton)

Competition and Convention Fees:

Unless otherwise stated by the Parent’s Association, all entry fees are the responsibility of the parent and must be paid in full by the studio deadline. If paid by the Parent’s association fees must be paid in full one week prior to the competition start date. Convention fees must be paid by the studio given deadline. The Parent’s Association is expected to continue to subsidize these events for our students, however the amount of the subsidy may vary dependent upon your history of fundraising participation with the Association.

Solos, Duos/Trios, and Specialty Groups

Solos:

* For new choreography fees are $135.00 for the first solo and $110.00 for each additional solo.

* For repeating solos a $70.00 coaching fee will be charged.

Duos/Trios

* Fees are $90.00 per person for the 1st routine and $75.00 for additional routines with the same partner(s).

Specialty Groups:

* Fees are $80.00 per person.

* Groups pulled out by a teacher/choreographer will not be subject to these fees.
